The holidays are such a fun and exciting time, but can be a busy and hectic time of year as well! Here are my tips for surviving the holidays with a toddler!
Have Realistic Expectations- the holidays are exciting but can be overtiring and overwhelming for our toddlers! Everything won’t be perfect and that’s okay! Just enjoy the memories you are making!
Prepare for Overload- with endless activities and outings, lights, music and unfamiliar people, toddlers can become overstimulated easily. Try not to do too much in one day and stick to their regular eating and napping schedules as much as possible. It’s okay to decline events if you are unable to attend or if you think it will be overwhelming for your toddler.
Communicate with your Child- prepare your child for what’s coming so that they have an idea of what to expect. Whether it’s explaining to them who will be there or what will be happening, this will help to ease any feelings of confusion.
Take the pressure off of yourself- holidays don’t have to be perfect to create memories. Take some time for yourself and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year with your toddler!
