I’ll be the first to admit it.
Going into our 10-day cleanse, I was not exactly a willing participant.
Originally, I had visions of a simple dry January. Reset a little. Get back to healthy basics. Easy enough. But since Dr. James has been dealing with ongoing skin issues and had already tried just about everything, I knew this was one of those moments where support mattered more than comfort.
So when he suggested a 10-day heavy metal detox, parasite cleanse, liver and gallbladder reset, I said yes.
Note to self: always read the fine print.
This cleanse meant no sugar, no processed food, no animal protein, no caffeine, no alcohol. There was a very specific list of vegetables and fruits we could eat, along with tinctures, amino acids, protein shakes… and enemas.
Yes. I said enemas.
The hardest parts for me?
No daily coffee. No cheese. No meat.
By day three, I’m pretty sure my staff was ready to fire me.
By day five, I felt amazing.
Here’s what I learned:
• We are stronger than we think
• My stomach feels great
• I dropped weight without even trying
• I’m sleeping better than I have in a long time
The cleanse has been over for almost a week now, and I still haven’t gone back to caffeine, sugar, processed foods, or alcohol. I’m not saying I’ll never enjoy those things again, but I am confident that this experience helped reset my mindset and put me on a different path, one rooted in awareness and moderation.
Stay tuned.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing the soup recipes we’ve started incorporating into our weekly meal prep. Cozy, nourishing, and very much part of this new chapter.
